Nwanosike presents N850m supplementary budget to Ikwerre Assembly

The Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government, Samuel Nwanosike, on Monday, presented N850,000,000 supplementary budget of the Council to the Legislative Assembly for consideration and passage.

The 2019 supplementary budget is targeted at developmental projects in various communities of the LGA which were not captured in the 2019 budget.

Nwanosike said during the presentation that the supplementary budget is targeted at developmental projects in the various communities, which will go along way in bringing the dividend of democracy to the people.

According to him: “The need for the supplementary budget was necessitated due to the numerous genuine requests of capital projects in our local government which were not captured in the 2019 budget, hence we deemed it necessary to harkens to the needs and aspirations of our people which is our primary responsibility in line with our campaign promises, programmes and policies; tagged Our Social Contract”.

The supplementary budget christened “Budget of Reality”, shall be funded on the estimated statutory allocation N550,000,000.00) and independent revenue N300,000,000.00).

The breakdown of the supplementary budget is as follows:
1. Constructions/Reconstructions/ Provisions of Fixed Assets General – Eight hundred and nineteen million naira (N819,000,000.00) only.

  1. Rehabilitation /Repairs of Fixed Assets General – Thirty-one million naira (31,000,000.00) only.

“This reveals that we shall be embarking on the construction of schools, health centres, markets, town halls and drainages in our various communities. Also, the renovation of old Council Secretariat and the construction of Council gate/security house shall be embarked on. All these are the purpose to which we intend to achieve within the one-year budgetary period which shall bring development to our LGA”, he said.

While appealing to the honourable members of the Legislative Assembly to give speedy attention to the supplementary budget due to its positive impact, he commended the legislators for giving him and his team safe passage to the hallow chamber in order to present the supplementary budget.
