Wike to appoint 35 special advisers

The Rivers State House of Assembly, on Monday, approved the appointment of thirty five special advisers for Governor Nyesom Wike.

This follows a request by the governor seeking the approval of the house for the appointment of the Special advisers.

The request was contained in a letter read on the floor of the house by the speaker of the house, Ikuinyi Owaji Ibani.

The speaker said the request was in order to strengthen and support the smooth running of the state.

Governor Wike who came under criticism for not forming a cabinet, a week ago, told newsmen that the appointments would be made at the appropriate time.

He said that the reason for the delay in constituting a cabinet was because he was looking for people who would work for the development of the State, adding that he doesn’t trust anyone.

Some of the lawmakers who debated the matter include Matthew Dike representing Tai constituency, Chief Whip of the house, Evans Bipi and the lawmaker representing Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni constituency, Nathaniel Uwaji.
