There was anger on Friday as another unidentified lady was found strangled in a hotel in Omoku, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area of Rivers State.

The incident caused an uproar on social media as users posted the gory pictures of the deceased whose hands and legs were bound with white clothes.

The deceased who is in her early twenties was reportedly killed on Thursday night in La Steph hotel in Omoku along Obor road, making it the third death in similar situation in 10 days and 8th in a space of three months.

A staff of the hotel who spoke on the condition of anonymity said they discovered the body while on routine morning cleaning of rooms, adding that the man who lodged with her had already disappeared.

He added that they reported the incident to the police who came and evacuated the body.

The recent killing comes amidst protests by female residents of Port Harcourt who are calling on the police to tackle the rising trend.

The police had also announced on Friday that its personnel had arrested suspected serial killers in Port Harcourt, a development many residents say was not enough.

The Police command did not respond to enquiries for comments as at the time of filing of this report.

The issue of killings of young women in Port Harcourt began in May with a lifeless body of a lady dumped at the popular Garrison roundabout.

Since then, the trend had intensified as no month hardly passed without news of killing for ritual purposes.

Women groups have also begun sensitizing young in the state in order to equip them with knowledge of how to avoid falling victims.
