Appeal Court reserves ruling on appeal against Apiafi’s victory

The Election Petition Appeal Court sitting in Port Harcourt has reserved judgement on the appeal filed by the candidate of Social Democratic Party, SDP, for Rivers West Senatorial District DIGHOBO OBAGHAMA, against Senator Betty Apiafi’s victory.

The appeal is challenging the ruling delivered by the National and State Assembly Election Tribunal, which dismissed the appellant Petition.

The petitioner aggrieved with the judgement approached the court of appeal to contest the ruling.

After listening to the argument of Counsels in the matter, the three-man appeal panel reserved judgement to a date that will be communicated to the parties.

COLLINS DIKE, Counsel to the Appellant, DIGHOBO OBAGHAMA told our reporter Tina Amanda that the National and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal dismissed their Petition on an unjust circumstance.

On his part, TUNDE FASHOUYI, Counsel to the Respondent Senator Betty Apiafi, said they had raised several objections to the appeal, adding that they are hoping for their disapproval to be sustained.
