Stakeholders in Oyigbo condemn attack on Azuogu, Obete communities

The Chairman of Oyigbo Local Government Area, Gerald Oforji, has condemned the attack on residents of Obete, Azuogu and Omarihu communities.
He said lives were lost after suspected hoodlums from Khana local government invaded the area in the early hours of Monday.

Gerald Oforji in a chat with our correspondent described the attack on Azuogu, Obete and Omarihu communities as barbaric and inhumane.

Gerald Oforji while commending security agencies for their prompt intervention during the incident also called for more security presence in the interior communities in Oyigbo local government.

Meanwhile, the Sole Administrator of Greater Port Harcourt, Desmond Akawor has condoled with the family that lost their loved ones during the attack.

He also advised the victims not to take laws into their hands as the security agencies are on top of the situation.

Desmond Akawor also called for more security presence in the three communities that witnessed the attack.

He lamented that the two police division in Oyigbo local government are not enough to serve the entire local government area.

In his comment, the Member Representing Oyigbo at the Rivers State House of Assembly Promise Nwankwo also condemned the attack by some hoodlums from the Ogoni axis on residents of Azuogu, Omarihu and Obete communities in Oyigbo.

Promise Nwankwo while addressing newsmen also called for more security presence in Oyigbo local government area.

He also promised to meet with stakeholders in Ogoni communities in a bid to find a lasting solution to the crisis.

Meanwhile, A youth leader in Oyigbo, Ejike Dike said the residents of Azuogu, Omarihu and Obete communities in Oyigbo have fled their area after the attack.

Ejike Dike also called on the Rivers State government to intervene in the situation.
