Soldiers invade Ogoni community, kill one. (Graphic Image, Video)

Soldiers allegedly attached to Shell Petroleum Development Company workers on Friday afternoon, April 19, invaded K. Dere community in Gokana Local Government Area killing one and injuring many.

Theportcitynews learnt that the invading soldiers shot sporadically and in the process, a young man, Nen-elkpege Lezor, was hit and killed by a stray bullet while one Mr Lenu Kpegezor, 30y was also shot but in very critical condition.

The shooting led to serious tension as fear enveloped the community.

The Ogoni people in South-East district of Rivers State have in decades past suffered undue hardship in the hands of Nigeria’s Federal Government over the huge oil deposit in the Area.

The latest attack comes days after soldiers invaded Yeghe community where military personnel raided the home of one Solomon Ndigbara, a move that was condemned by the Movement for the survival of Ogoni People, MOSOP.

Attempt by theportcitynews to speak with the Army authorities in Port Harcourt for comments on the matter failed as texts messages and calls were not responded to.
