Eguma blames NPFL home loss to Wikki Tourists to fatigue

Wikki Tourists of Bauchi Sunday at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt beat Rivers United FC to run away with the maximum three points.

The game which started on an impressive note for Rivers United recorded its first shocker with a goal scored by number 8 jersey for the visitors, Saidu Abdullahi, in the 17 minutes of the first half of the encounter.

Rivers United’s case was further compounded with another goal by Hassan Musa in the 25 minutes.

The host team mounted pressure on the visitors, which paid off in the 38 minutes through a goalmouth scramble, which the number 8 shirt, of Rivers United’s Ossy Martins converted to reduce the tally to 1-2.

The second half was Dingdong affairs, as both teams tried to outwit each other without success.

The game ended 1-2 in favour of the visiting team.

Technical Adviser of Wikki Tourists, Aliyu Zuberu attributed the victory to hard work.

According to him, having understudied their host as a strong side, his boys put in their best in the match, which produced the victory.

“I am very excited, getting three points away is not a mean feat,” Zuberu said.
On his part, Head Coach of Rivers United, Stanley Eguma said though they prepared for the match, the early goal they conceded devastated his boys.

He blames the loss to fatigue and promised that they would work harder to make up in subsequent matches.
