A High Court sitting in Port Harcourt says it will take disciplinary action on the matter brought before it by the Rivers state government against former Leader of Rivers State House of Assembly, CHIDI LLOYD if he fails to appear in court to take his plea.

When the matter was called up in court, the accused person CHIDI LLOYD was not present in court to take his plea on the three count charge of attempted murder, destruction of public property and bridge of public peace.

Counsel to Rivers State Government, DAMILARE ADEYEMI filed an application before the court seeking for a bench warrant on the defendant, while arguing that the accused’s presence in court today is mandatory under the criminal justice law of Rivers state.

Counsel to the defendant EMENIKE EBETE argued that his client was not aware of the plea today in court.

Justice CHIWENDU NWOGU after listening to both counsels’ argument said the court will not fail to take judicial action against the accused should he fail to appear in court to take his plea on the next adjourned date 16th of April.

Speaking to our reporter Tina Stephen, the persecution counsel, DAMILARE GEORGE-ADEYEMI explained that the accused person has no genuine reason to be absent in court.

On his part, counsel to the defendant, EMENIKE EBETE said they will do needful for the accused to be in court.
