Appeal court ruling: Calm Down And Remain Steadfast – Cole’s spokesman tells party members

A spokesman for the Tonye Cole Campaign Organisation, Ogbonna Nwuke, has urged members of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State to remain calm over the decision of the Court of Appeal to strike out, on Wednesday, a suit challenging the October 10th ruling of the Rivers State High Court.

Theportcitynews reported that the Court of Appeal, on Wednesday, struck out an appeal against a judgement of the Rivers State High Court which nullified the indirect primaries conducted by the Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi’s faction of the party.

The Appellate Court said the suit was status barred as it was not filed within the stipulated 60-day time frame.

However, Nwuke said in a statement issued on Wednesday night that the APC was yet to receive a briefing relating to what transpired in court from its lawyers.

He said that the party has not exhausted all avenues that will rescue it and remedy all the legal lock jam confronting it.

According to him: “There are still options open to the party. All the roads to a judicial settlement of the cases that are pending before the court are still open”, the Spokesman remarked.

Nwuke said that at a time like this, the will of party supporters would be stretched to a breaking point but noted that it was at this time that the party which is still exploring options open to it would count on the loyalty and support of its members.

Nwuke declared that: “Our leaders are on top of the situation and they are doing everything humanly possible to ensure that we obtain justice through the judiciary”

He said that although the road may be bumpy and rough, the APC will not shrink from its resolve to upturn the legal obstacles that are standing between it and the contest of the election in Rivers State.

Stressing that what the party requires now is the commitment of its membership, Nwuke urged them to repose utmost confidence in the ability of the leadership to take them to the promised land.

“We have faith in God and the capacity of the judiciary to deal impartially with all the matters that are pending before it.

“Our leaders are working to make sure that we secure victory for the party and the Rivers people who truly yearn for change” he concluded.
