Christmas Babies: Justice Wike advises parents on diligent grooming of children

Wife of the Rivers State Governor, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike has called on mothers to persevere as they work towards diligently grooming future leaders.

Justice Wike who spoke while visiting Christmas babies on Tuesday at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital said that mothers have the onerous responsibility of working for the unity and stability of families.

She said, “I will say to all mothers that we should always persevere in looking after our families because God has put a lot in our hands.

“I want to say that it is the woman that holds the family and keeps it together. We have a lot to do with raising our children”

She urged mothers to ensure that they raise God-fearing children for the good of the society.

“Women must not fail. We must do everything possible to make sure that we raise our children in a way that will be pleasing to God, she said.

The Rivers Governor’s Wife said that while men also have roles to play in the grooming of children, women as caregivers have greater responsibility.

She noted that she visited the Christmas babies in line with the established traditions of reaching out to mothers during Christmas and New Year.

She stressed that as is the practice of the good people of Rivers State, every wife of the governor goes to visit Christmas and New Year babies.

“It is the tradition that we are in touch with them and to appreciate God for the blessing of New babies into the state.

“It is just to welcome the child and to encourage the parents in every little way that we can and to let them know that we have them in our hearts.

“We want to make them know that we will do all that is necessary to make them comfortable, especially at this time.

Responding, Chief Medical Director of the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, Dr Aaron Friday said the visit of the Wife of the Rivers State Governor was memorable because it was the first time since the facility transformed from Braithwaite Memorial Special Hospital to the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital.

He noted that the hospital has been upgraded by the administration of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, making it a wonderful Christmas for the people of the state.

During the visit, there was a presentation of gifts to the two Christmas Babies and their mothers by the Wife of the Rivers State Governor, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike.

The Wife of the Rivers State Governor also presented gifts to other mothers at the maternity ward.

The Wife of the Rivers State Governor’s wife prayed for the Christmas babies. The management of the hospital also presented a souvenir to the Wife of the Rivers State Governor.
