The trial in the alleged murder case involving OJUKAYE FLAG AMACHREE was stalled again due to the absence of the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Rivers State Chapter in court on Tuesday.

Ojukaye Flag-Amachree is standing trial for the alleged murder of one Smart Soberekon during the 2015 election in Asari-Toru Local government area of the state.

The Supreme Court on November 8 refused to grant permission to Mr Ojukaye Flag-Amachree, to travel for a medical appointment in Dubai.

The court in its ruling ordered the accused person to answer to the charges against him, observing that he has not taken his plea up till date, after 25 adjournments due to his refusal to appear in court.

However, a High Court sitting in Port Harcourt on Tuesday ruled that the murder trial would proceed if OJUKAYE FLAG AMACHREE fails to appear in court on the next adjourned date.

The lawyer for the Rivers State Government GEORGE ADEYEMI said they were in court to apply for a motion to commence the trial in absentia.

Our correspondent reports that the Court adjourned the case till January 19th, 2019 for hearing.
