The National Industrial Court sitting in Port Harcourt has adjourned till November 15, 2018, for expeditious hearing in the case between Obed Omah of Radio Rivers and the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ.

Justice Polycarp Hamman gave the order on Tuesday 30th October 2018 after hearing from both lawyers Obed Omah and that of the NUJ.

Justice Hamman directed all parties to the case to file all court processes before the next adjourned date to enable the court rule on the matter.

Obed Omah had sought reprieve from the National Industrial Court, urging the court to enforce his right to participate in the NUJ election conducted on the 12th July 2018 after he was wrongfully and falsely disqualified from participating in the election.

The plaintiff is also asking the court to set aside the election on the grounds that the NUJ did not give any reason for his disqualification from the election after being cleared earlier to participate in the election.

He said his disqualification from contesting the election was a breach of his fundamental rights as a bonafide member of the NUJ and urged the court to nullify the election.
