Vigilante Nab Car Battery Thief, Recover N200,000

Ozoro peace and Security committee outfit otherwise known as OPASCO in Ozoro Community in Isoko North local government area of Delta State on Sunday night arrested a notorious car battery thief identified as Eze Collins and recovered from him the sum of N200,000.

Leader of the security outfit, Adeh Ovomereh who spoke to Journalists at a media briefing in Asaba, confirmed that the Suspect was arrested on intelligence gathering, disclosing that he had gone to the house of one Patrick Mose around 11:p m along Owhelogbo road when nemesis caught up with him.

He was said to have been arrested on the spot and recovered from him the sum of N200,000 before he was handed over to the police in Ozoro police Division.

But the police officer at the Ozoro police Division who spoke to a correspondent on condition of anonymity on phone confirmed that the Suspect currently being detained will be charged to court on completion of investigation.

Also speaking to Journalists, the owner of the car, Patrick Mose said he parked his car at about 10:p m, and at 11:p m the Suspect fell down from his fence and started removing the battery from his car.

“I shouted for help and the security agents rushed into my house and arrested him on the spot with N200,000″.

It was gathered that the Suspect had been responsible for many missing car batteries in Ozoro Community in the last few weeks, a situation the security agents said they have been on intelligence gathering before nemesis caught up with the Suspect.

Sources said Ozoro Community and its environ have been under seige of hoodlums, particularly car battery thieves, and in hue and cry, no fewer than sixteen batteries have been reported stolen in the last two weeks as in most cases, the car doors are allegedly broken with the car stereos removed.

At nightfall, these hoodlums shoot their guns in the air sporadically thereby forcing residents to sleep with their two eyes open.

A resident, Michael John who spoke to Journalists Last week said” we don’t sleep with our two eyes closed again in Ozoro Community, these hoodlums operate especially at nightfall, and they shoot sporadically in the air, thereby forcing us to go to bed early.

But the police Commissioner, Mustafa Muhammad in swift reaction assured of the police’s commitment with a view to eradicating all forms of criminal activities in the state.
