Rivers Monarch warns against bunkery activities

Upata Monarch has warned that illegal bunkery activities in the area posed serious security challenge to the communities.

The Eze Igbu Upata Kingdom and Chairman of Ahoada East Council of Traditional Chiefs, Eze Felix Enene Otuwarikpo, disclosed this during the visit of the new Ahoada Area Police Commander, ACP Adamu Ibrahim, to Ihuaba palace.

According to him, operations of illegal bunkery is a threat to the lives of people and communities within the scope of the illegal oil explorers.

“Oil bunkering endangers the environment when the product goes into the environment. It affects the aquatic life, the source of drinking water and the community is also affected. So, it’s a serious threat. Those engaging in this illicit trade in our communities must be stopped”

Eze Otuwarikpo called on the security agencies to form a good synergy with Upata in order to achieve success over the impending crimes being perpetrated within the communities

ACP Ibrahim commended the Eze over his persistence in fighting against crime and criminal activities in the domain.

ACP Ibrahim assured the monarch that the police would partner with the Igbu Upata Kingdom to curb the activities of illegal bunkerers and other crime-related activities.
