Rivers CJ bans affidavit louts from Judiciary Complex

Affidavit and fake stamps sellers at the commissioner of oaths have been removed from the Rivers State Judiciary complex.

Rivers State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice A.I. Iyayi-Lamikanra, said the move became necessary following the menace caused by people who have turned the judiciary complex into a trading center.

She advised citizens to get certified affidavits from the premises of the High Court with payments made to designated banks.

The Chief Judge also frowned at the outrageous fees of N2,000 charged by louts, saying that the official fee for affidavit is N500.

‘Now affidavits can be verified from the High Court premises or any other court outside’, she stated.

The CJ further disclosed that affidavits now have proper numbers and individuals who are legalized to perform as commissioners of oaths have been appointed.
