Worried by negative comments of some senior citizens of Ogoni on the activities of the Dialogue committee on oil resumption and other issues in the area, an elder statesman, Professor Olu-Andah Wai-Ogosu, has urged the people to be calm and wait for the outcome of the committee’s report.
Speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt, Professor Wai-Ogosu, who described the comments as divisive, inciting and egocentric, said they are capable of creating further division and stirring up unnecessary sentiments to annoy individuals and communities against each other.

While noting that consultations are ongoing with the Federal Government on the need to extend the posthumous honours to the four Ogoni chiefs who were murdered in Gokana, Professor Wai-Ogosu said Ogoni leaders should be pre-occupied with finding lasting solutions to issues such as the activities of marauding cattle herders in the area, and the recent bombing in Bunu Tai.
Professor Wai-Ogosu, who is a prominent leader in Ogoni, appealed to Traditional, Political and other leaders of thought in the area, to deploy their experience in facilitating peace for sustainable development of Ogoni.
