Eradiri, Women Group Applaud Fubara-Wike Truce, Urges Lasting Peace in Rivers

Former Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) President and ex-Labour Party governorship candidate, Udengs Eradiri, has hailed the suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara for reconciling with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and the 27 members of the State Assembly.

Eradiri described Fubara’s return to Wike’s political camp as a bold and necessary step toward peace and development in Rivers. He noted that he had consistently advised the governor to pursue genuine reconciliation and reconnect with key stakeholders.

Warning against “crisis merchants” who offer false support but seek to destabilise the state, Eradiri urged Fubara to avoid individuals pushing divisive agendas. He emphasised that walking away from the peace accord would harm both the governor’s reputation and the state’s stability.

Eradiri also called on Fubara to persuade PDP governors to withdraw their Supreme Court case against President Bola Tinubu over the emergency rule in Rivers, praising Tinubu for brokering peace and preventing further chaos.

He further urged Wike to guide and protect Fubara from deceptive political influences, while commending Speaker Martins Amaewhule and other stakeholders for supporting the reconciliation process.

Similarly, a women’s group, Rivers Women Unite for SIM, emphasised the need for genuine and lasting peace. In a statement signed by Christy Glory Sunday and Belema Oningiye after a Thanksgiving service in Port Harcourt, the group lauded all parties for their commitment to reconciliation.

They expressed optimism that the president’s intervention would restore democratic order and called on citizens to unite under a “no-victor-no-vanquished” principle, leaving past grievances behind for the sake of the state’s future.

The group pledged continuous prayers and support for the peace process and expressed gratitude to Tinubu, Fubara, Wike, and lawmakers for resolving the political crisis in the interest of Rivers people.
