Rivers State Administrator, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, has pledged to provide requisite support for enhanced maritime security, protection of national assets, and the economy through collaboration with security agencies.
Retired Vice Admiral Ibas gave the assurance when he hosted participants of Nigerian Naval Warfare Course 9, on a Study Tour to the State, led by the Commandant of the Nigerian Naval War College, Rear Admiral Akinola Olodude, at Government House, Port Harcourt.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Ibibia Lucky Worika, the Administrator, described as apt the theme of the study tour, noting that using modern technology in Maritime Security operations will result in greater success in the protection of national assets, coastal communities and ensure sustainable economic development of Niger Delta with its significant crude oil production and the county.

In his address, the Commandant of the Nigerian Naval War College, Rear Admiral Akinola Olodude, said the participants of the Naval Warfare Course 9 are in Rivers State for a study tour with the theme “Optimising Technology for Effective Maritime Security Operations” given its strategic importance and contributions to the mainstay of country’s economy.
He explained that the Naval War College Nigeria was established with the primary purpose of developing operational-level leaders who can effectively address contemporary security challenges.
He lauded the Administrator for the approval to host the Naval Warfare Course 9 and the state’s continued support to the Nigerian Navy establishment with the provision of logistics for operations to enhance maritime security, as well as other security agencies in the state.
