World record holder Tobi Amusan showcased an impressive performance at the 2025 Paris Diamond League on Friday, achieving a season-best time of 12.24 seconds in the women’s 100m hurdles, which earned her a commendable second-place finish.
This achievement represents the Nigerian athlete’s second-fastest time to date, only behind her world record of 12.12 seconds established in 2022.
Amusan accelerated in the final stretch, closing the distance on the USA’s Grace Stark, who had a remarkable start and secured victory with a personal best and meet record of 12.21 seconds, making her the fifth-fastest woman in history for this event. Jamaica’s Ackera Nugent closely followed in third place, finishing with a time of 12.30 seconds.
The race in Paris was an exhilarating continuation of Amusan’s impressive 2025 season. After starting the season with two fourth-place finishes in Xiamen (12.74 seconds) and Shaoxing (12.66 seconds), she made a strong comeback by winning the Rabat leg of the Diamond League in 12.45 seconds—a season-best at that time and a meet record.

Paris marked Amusan’s fourth appearance in the Diamond League this season, and the consistency she is developing indicates that she is reaching her peak form just as significant international competitions are on the horizon.
She competed against a formidable field that included former world silver medallist Keni Harrison, Jamaican up-and-comer Ackera Nugent, Polish athlete Pia Skrzyszowska, Dutch national champion Nadine Visser, Devynne Charlton from the Bahamas, and the current Diamond League leader, Grace Stark.
Despite the intense competition, Amusan demonstrated her experience and improving form, finishing strongly and earning crucial points in the race towards the Diamond League Finals in Zurich.
She currently ranks fourth on the Diamond League leaderboard with 10 points, trailing Stark (23), Danielle Williams (15), and Marione Fourie (12).
