NDDC Launches Local Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme

Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is set to commence local postgraduate scholarship scheme this year. NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku who made this known during an interview session for candidates of foreign Postgraduate Scholarship Programme in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, revealed that Local Postgraduate Scholarship would accommodate six hundred beneficiaries.

Dr. Ogbuku insisted that the process of selecting successful beneficiaries of the yearly foreign scholarship was transparent, saying that previous beneficiaries made distinctions. He said “we have never had any case of any of our scholars involved in criminal situation and most of them are doing well academically, last year we had multiple distinction same with this year in various school in UK and Europe so with that we are encouraged to do more”.

Similarly, Director of Education, Health and Social services, Dr. George Uzonwanne told newsmen that two thousand five hundred applicants who scored seventy and above during the exam were invited for the oral interview, from where two hundred successful beneficiaries would be selected for the foreign Postgraduate Scholarship.

“Every students gets his answers for his scores right after the exam so there’s no case of their score was changed, you get it and you sign off on your score, so the overall performance of the students will determine what the cut off will be” he noted.

Two of the interviewees, Chibuike Achimonye and Miss Blessing Chinonso who are visually impaired, applauded NDDC for the gesture. However, Miss Chinonso requested that reading screens be provided for visually impaired candidates during  Computer Based Test.
