AC Milan Sack Sérgio Conceição, Accepts Deal With Allegri

Italian Serie A club AC Milan have announced the departure of their Portuguese manager, Sérgio Conceição. In a statement published on their official website on Thursday, the club expressed appreciation to Conceição, who took charge last December and guided the team to an eighth-place finish with 63 points.

The statement also acknowledged the commitment, professionalism, and dedication demonstrated by Conceição and his backroom staff during their tenure with the first team.

“AC Milan and Sérgio Conceição will not continue their journey together next season. The Club would like to thank Sérgio and his staff for their commitment, professionalism and dedication shown during their time leading the First Team over the past few months.

“The AC Milan family parts with the coach who won the 50th trophy in the Club’s history, wishing him the best for the future”Future, the statement read. Conceição, who succeeded Paulo Fonseca, signed an 18-month contract but departed from his position before completing the full term.

The former Inter Milan and Lazio midfielder oversaw 31 matches during his tenure at Milan, securing 16 wins, seven defeats, and three draws in the league. However, journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed via his social media accounts on Thursday that Massimiliano Allegri is set to replace the 50-year-old.

Allegri, 57, returns to Milan, having previously guided the club to the Serie A title in 2011 during his first spell in charge. Although he later secured five more Serie A titles across two stints with Juventus. Milan have yet to officially announce him as their new head coach.

Romano wrote, “Here we go! Max Allegri has just signed his contract as new AC Milan manager. Allegri’s back to the club with agreement in place to proceed with new project at AC Milan, done deal.”

On 31 December 2013, Allegri told Gazzetta dello Sport that he would leave Milan at the end of the season. However, Milan announced on 13 January 2014 that Allegri and his coaching staff were relieved of their duties with immediate effect.
