Boniface Set for Premier League Switch as Leverkusen Plan Exit

Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has been let go by former Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen, who are eager to sell him this summer with interest from Premier League side Newcastle United.

The young and prolific striker has had a commendable tenure at Bayer Leverkusen since transferring from Belgian team Royale Union SG two seasons back.

Statistics show that the 24-year-old has recorded 17 goals and 11 assists in 51 matches, aiding the club in securing the Meisterschale last season and finishing second this season. This implies that Boniface could have netted more goals for Bayer Leverkusen if not for the injuries he has encountered.

As reported by Soccernet, the Super Eagles forward has garnered attention from several clubs beyond Germany. He has been associated with teams such as Chelsea, Manchester United, West Ham, and Newcastle United.

In addition to the current claims, speculation suggests that Newcastle’s transfer efforts have intensified, as the Magpies are in need of another striker due to the anticipated departure of Alexander Isak.

Reports indicate that Bayer Leverkusen is open to the idea of allowing Boniface to depart. The 24-year-old Super Eagles player is among those whom they are particularly keen to move on this summer.

It’s worth noting that despite his impressive goal-scoring record, in January, the former Bundesliga champions were willing to transfer him to Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli. However, the deal ultimately collapsed as they opted to sign Ivan Toney instead.

Regardless of the situation, Bayer Leverkusen’s squad is undergoing significant changes. Additionally, Coach Xabi Alonso appears poised to take over at Real Madrid, Jonathan Tah is leaving, Jeremie Frimpong is set to join Liverpool is nearly finalized, and Florian Wirtz is also expected to depart.

Given the current condition of the club, it may take a miracle for Die Werkself to avoid severe struggles in the upcoming season, which could negatively impact Boniface’s value.
