Rivers vigilante group issues eviction notice to native doctors

Map of Rivers State

The Onelga Security Peace Advisory Committee (OSPAC) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to native doctors in the Ogba, Egbema, and Ndoni Local Government Areas of Rivers State to vacate. The leadership of OSPAC stated that any native doctor who fails to vacate within the grace period will be identified during their search operations and sanctioned accordingly.

The Secretary-General of OSPAC, Eze Ohia, stated this during a sensitization exercise held in Omoku, the headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA. Ohia said reports reaching the local security outfit revealed that the activities of some native doctors, particularly those harbouring fetish items in their homes, would no longer be tolerated, as they are the ones promoting criminal activities in the area.

He additionally declared that from now on, strict measures will be implemented against individuals dressing inappropriately within the community, indicating that community leaders have given the group permission to maintain moral order.

“The Oba-in-Council has authorized us to communicate this message once more. All native doctors, especially those not originally from Omoku, many of whom were expelled from their former communities, must depart. One residence is packed with charms, and other homes have over 30 individuals surrounded by fetish items.

He also warned landlords who host such individuals, stating, “All landlords who have rented rooms to these people must notify them they have only seven days remaining in Omoku.

“We will not allow outsiders to inundate our community with charms. After seven days, we will start house-to-house inspections, and any landlord found sheltering them will face consequences.”

Regarding the issue of improper dressing, Ohia expressed concern over the increasing moral decline, particularly among young girls. He also refuted claims suggesting unrest within the community.

He remarked, “To those disseminating false information that a crisis exists in Omoku, cease it. Omoku is completely calm.

“All individuals who have brought charms to Omoku, you have seven days to pack your belongings and leave the community,” he asserted.
