The English Premier League takes another turn as Chelsea are set to qualify for the much coveted UEFA Champions League against all odds.
The London side since December found it difficult to score and much more difficult to win a game after hitting a rough patch of foam which saw them drop from 2nd position, where they were 4 points behind Liverpool to 7th position with more than 15 points behind the League leaders and current champions.
As the League gets to the last three games of the season, the West Londoners find themselves battling for the remaining three Champions League spots with former Premier League title holders Manchester city who sit in 3rd place with a point above Chelsea, despite being behind the London team for majority of the campaign untill December where everything seemed to go wrong for the London team.
Despite Liverpool being crowned Champions, with three games to go It promises to be an exciting one for fans as the English Premier is almost coming to an end and with so much still to fight for as it has to do with who qualifies for neat season’s champions league.
Yesterday the blues gave their fans a reason to rejoice and be hopeful after handing Liverpool their biggest defeat of the season, a result that many did not believe was possible considering that they haven’t beaten Liverpool in 7 seasons, coupled with the fact that the team has been poor this season each time they faced top 6 opposition.

Also in contention are, Newcastle, Nottingham Forest and Aston villa who are on 4th, 6th, and 7th position, with 63, 60 and 60 points respectively, though Nottingham Forest have a game in hand.
While Chelsea occupy the 5th Position, they are level on points and goals with Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest and Aston villa are pushing hard to get a bite of the cake with 60 points and lesser opponents to play in their remaining fixtures.
Amongst the teams contending for the three Champions League slots Chelsea tend to have the toughest fixtures and haven just defeated league champions Liverpool, they still have to overcome Newcastle, Manchester United and Nottingham Forest if they must participate in next year’s UEFA Champions League.

If they must qualify, the blues still have to go to Newcastle and get a result, at home ensure they beat Manchester united before going away to face Nottingham Forest in a winner takes all encounter, depending on what happens in other games leading to the last match of the season.
Irrespective of the seeming difficult fixtures, there is much reason for their fans to rejoice seeing that the London side seem to have picked up the form which they had lost in the mid part of the season as they have won 3 of their last 3 games, something that they have failed to achieve since the second phase of the league’s fixtures commenced.
In other fixtures Newcastle would take on Chelsea, Arsenal before playing their final game of the season at home to Everton.
Nottingham Forest would face Crystal Palace today, Leicester City and Westham United next two Sundays before playing Chelsea on the final day.
Aston villa would go away to Bournemouth on Saturday, Tottenham at home before going away to face Manchester United on the final day of the league.
