Garrison Roundabout Project: We Have Been Vindicated- INCRA

The Inter-Ethnic Network for Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, INCRA, has said it has been vindicated by statements attributed to the governor of Rivers State, Barr. Nyesom Wike, who accepted the fact that garrison needed more than the parochial roundabout put in place by his government.

The governor, while commissioning the garrison-Trans-Amadi road, had stated that garrison needed a flyover. Governor Wike also promised to build a flyover stressing that the roundabout is not enough to address the huge traffic on it bearing in mind that the popular Aba/Portharcout expressway is such a busy road that connects almost the entire Port-Harcourt City.

INCRA noted that the Governor’s recent truth, though unconscionable, has vindicated it and other well-meaning Rivers people who stood their grounds to say that the roundabout project was mischievous and a ploy to reduce the cost to enable the government stash away public funds meant to achieve the best for the people into their personal coffers.

It will be recalled that INCRA had condemned the roundabout project stressing that the previous administration had a better plan for a flyover but in a bid to cheat and deceive the people of Rivers State, the government took funds budgeted for flyover and resorted to building a roundabout in the stead just to allow it have enough to embezzle as against what will benefit the people.

INCRA said that having been vindicated, it appealed to the Governor to keep to his word at least for the first time as one who occupies the most revered position in the state by constructing the flyover he promised.

INCRA also urged governor Wike to do so in ample time to reduce the number of deaths arising from the misplaced project he sited for his personal gains.

INCRA equally thanked the people of Rivers State for counting on her for constructive criticism which is aimed at keeping the government of the day on its toes to ensure it delivers the dividends of democracy without any form of deceit.
