He might consider cross-carpeting as State Governors and their predecessors are defecting from their parent party to another party despite not having serious challenges in their State, the rope on which some thread might become slimmer than it is, especially that of suspended Governor of Rivers State, His excellently, Similanaye Fubara who has not enjoyed peace since falling out with his political father, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike.
The 23rd of April 2025 brought another political drama in Nigeria as the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, the immediate past Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, and all members of the People’s Democratic Party crossed over to the All Progressive Party (APC), leaving question marks as to why the mass exodus and what action could follow from other PDP faithful.

We might see the suspended Governor follow suit because before the Delta State governors defection to APC, the suspended Rivers State Governor had met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which actual details of their discussion haven’t been released but who needs details of their meeting in London when a script seem to be playing out before our eyes that one needles be a political juggernaut to interpret. After all, it is clear that the Suspended Governor might consider cross-carpeting.
As tension reaches its boiling point, we expect a reaction soon from certain quarters in response to the current political developments; otherwise, it could be the end of the People’s Democratic Party in Nigeria.

Though, we would not be surprised if the Governor of Rivers State who is currently roped in by powers higher than his and with little or no law to help his course, defect to APC shortly, as we all know that in Nigeria politicians switch party to secure a better position or personal greater wealth as such moves, especially that made by individuals who are not being politically marginalized or cornered are not done with the well being of the populis in view, so that of the suspended Governor would be understandable by many, even though a lot of people would question the morality of the action seeing that the Suspended Governor is loved by the people of his state for fighting against injustice all these while, only to end up switching to a party where the suffering of a vast majority of Nigerians have been attributed to the lack of technical know how of individuals currently manning Federal affairs.
Albeit, any miss action or inaction on the path of the suspended governor would lead to a chain of reaction which will ultimately give certain individuals a solid ground to tighten their hold on Rivers State.
We wait to see the level of wisdom that is in operation in the lives of those advising the Governor.
