The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has inaugurated the ‘Every Home-A-Garden’ project in Bayelsa State. This initiative encourages Nigerian women to cultivate food within their immediate environments.

Senator Tinubu emphasized that the project aims to ensure food sufficiency and availability across the nation. Represented by the Wife of the Bayelsa State Governor, Dr. Mrs. Gloria Diri, who also serves as the Chairperson of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) in the South-South Region, Senator Tinubu highlighted that the RHI Agricultural Support Program for Women seeks to reduce food scarcity and hunger.

She noted that RHI’s passionate desire is for every woman to have access to basic necessities, stressing that food security will not only reduce infant and maternal mortality but also boost economic growth.

During a presentation, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture, Mr. Tariere Gita, underscored the benefits of home gardening and the potential within the agricultural sector for women. He maintained that owning a garden ensures food security, improves mental health, adds economic value, promotes self-sufficiency, and reduces dependency on oil exploration.
