Nollywood actress Sarah Martins recently shared her journey to becoming a self-proclaimed “gold digger” after a disappointing experience with a former partner.
Her revelation came in response to Veekee James’ story of abuse and financial exploitation in a past relationship.
In a post on her Instagram page, Sarah recounted how her ex-boyfriend misused her financial support.
Reflecting on her experience, she wrote, “After listening to Veekee James’ experience in her former relationship, all I can say is, stop overplaying your role in a relationship!”

Sarah disclosed that for six months, she gave her ex-boyfriend half of her salary, only to find out later that he used her contributions to support another woman, even funding the woman’s business. Adding to her dismay, the other woman later married someone else.
“There was a time I gave my ex 50% of my salary for 6 months and he was giving the money to another woman. He even funded her business from my sweat and the lady got married to someone else months after he funded her business,” she shared.
Known for her generosity and loyalty, Sarah admitted that the experience changed her perspective. She expressed her disillusionment with financial support in relationships, stating, “I’m a lover girl and I go hard for people I love but ever since they show me shege on top my kind heart, I no dey give man shishi! With my full chest, I am currently a gold digger!”
Her post has awoken discussions online about relationship issues, self-worth, and the importance of setting boundaries in romantic partnerships.
