Lagos Court Orders VeryDarkMan to Remove Defamatory Content Against Falana, Falz

The Lagos State High Court has delivered a landmark ruling in the ongoing defamation saga involving controversial social media critic, Martin Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, and renowned human rights activist, Femi Falana (SAN), and his son, Folarin Falana, aka Falz.

On Monday, Justice M. O. Dawodu delivered the ruling in suit no: ID/8584/GCM/2024, directing VeryDarkMan to immediately remove defamatory comments and videos concerning Falana and Falz from his social media platforms.

The court’s decision stems from VeryDarkMan’s September 24, 2024, social media posts linking Bobrisky to Falz and his father, deemed harmful to their public image.

Justice Dawodu emphasized that VeryDarkMan knowingly published false claims to tarnish Falz and Falana’s reputation, and as long as these defamatory statements remain online, their reputation continues to suffer.

According to the applicants (Falz and Falana), the defendant (VeryDarkMan) knew these statements (Bobrisky’s claims) were false and untrue but proceeded to publish them to injure their reputation.

Furthermore, the defamatory statements are still trending on the defendant (VeryDarkMan)’s several online platforms, and the injury to their reputation continues as long as the publication remains online.
