Popular Actress Ego Nwosu Calls On FG For Nollywood Loan Supports

Nollywood actress, Ego Nwosu, has called on the federal government to provide financial support to Nigeria’s film industry.

In a recent conversation with Potpourri, the actress emphasized the need for funding to elevate the quality of movies produced in the country.

The actress believes that Nollywood does not suffer from a lack of compelling stories but from insufficient resources.

“There are lots of ways the government can be beneficial to the movie industry. One of them is creating grants and loan opportunities; this will enable producers to be able to fund their movie projects.

“The truth is, there is no bad story, the only problem is the lack of funding to implement or even put in place the necessary things to be done.

“If the government can make loan facilities available, this will facilitate production and ease stress of finding funds for many of us,” she said.

Addressing the broader issue of economic hardship in Nigeria, Nwosu expressed her concern over the current state of affairs.

“Our government can do better. It’s really sad to see that millions of Nigerians are suffering. Despite all our natural resources, we still find ourselves living in abject poverty.

“The government needs to provide more job opportunities for the youths and they need to do something about the skyrocketing prices of commodities… it’s really getting to us and affecting each and every one of us as a Nigerian.

“My message to the people is to speak up when needed. They shouldn’t wallow in silence because the truth is, if we don’t speak up for ourselves, nobody will stand up to speak for us.”

In addition to these concerns, Nwosu hinted at an upcoming project. “I have a project coming up very soon, it’s gonna be very big and explosive, but I have decided to be mute about it for now for reasons personally known to me. When it’s time to unveil it, everybody will definitely know and hear about it,” she concluded.
