Gas Explosion Engulfed Shanties Houses in Lagos

A gas explosion was reportedly to have occurred at the Tejuosho area behind Tejuosho Market and NTA, in Lagos State on Wednesday and has razed down wooden shanties in the area.

In the notice shared by Margaret Adeseye, Director of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, it was gathered that the explosion was said to be the result of unattended cooking gas.

However, in response to the fire outbreak, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, which received a call at around 12:08 p.m., noted that the fire units from Ilupeju and Sari Fire Stations acted swiftly to the situation.

The description stated that the fire spread through shanty houses, shops, and residential homes.

“The fire outbreak occurred behind Tejuosho Market and NTA, Tejuosho, involving shanty houses built as an extension to Oba Teju Osho’s house.”

” Several shanties along the Tejuosho canal, comprising shops and residences, were gutted by fire. The fire, which originated from an unattended cooking gas, spread to other wooden blocks along the canal.”
