PH Fruit & Vegetable Market Gets New Chairman

Kelechi Esogwa-Amadi

The Fruit and Vegetables Marketers Association, Rivers State, now has a new chairman. He is Mr Chigozie Nnodim a.k.a. Vasco.

Elected on Saturday, 12th May, 2018, in a free and fair election conducted by the leadership of Rivers State Traders Association at the premises of Port Harcourt City Council, Chigozie Nnodim defeated the incumbent chairman, Victor Eze Ahiauzu with over 50% of the votes to emerge victorious.

In his post-election speech, the new chairman of the Fruit and Vegetables Marketers Association thanked God for helping him to overcome all the challenges he encountered throughout the campaign period to finally emerge the winner.

While dedicating his victory to God, Nnodim hailed the election committee and the Rivers State Traders Association for conducting a free and fair election.

Nnodim, an indigene of Ogbogoro, in Obio/Akpor local government area of the state, also thanked all the persons who supported him and promised to carry everybody along while pledging to transform the market by continuing from where he stopped when he was chairman of the association for two terms.

He attributed the massive support he got from the members to his past achievements when he led the association for two tenures. Some of those achievements, according to him, include the opening of account for the fruit and vegetable market and registering the section with the Corporate Affairs Commission (C.A.C.), rehabilitating their borehole and flooring the market with over 900 bags of cement.

Nnodim displayed a spirit of sportsmanship by commending the incumbent chairman
Victor Eze Ahiauzu who also contested with him in the election, and promised not to witch-hunt anybody during his administration.
