Some Christians in Rivers State have expressed worries over the steady increase in the prices of goods and services across the country.
The worries of the Christians came as they found it difficult to shop for Easter, following the high cost of items in the market.
Though despite the economic hardship in the country, Christians still attended the Easter Sunday church service in their different denominations, thanking God for the gift of life and His protection.
Our correspondent who monitored the Easter church service across the three local government areas that make up the Kalabari region in the state said the economic inflation did not affect church attendance.
A cross-section of worshippers who spoke after church service said the economic situation in the country is not giving citizens joy.
They expressed displeasure over the decline in the quality and quantity of products while their prices kept increasing.
They said both government and private employers are not thinking of increasing the salaries of their workers. “The situation has left many workers who are customers too to be indebted to traders as they now find it difficult to immediately pay cash when buying goods,” the worshippers added.
Easter is a significant season in the lives of Christians all over the world as it commemorates the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. during His messianic assignment on earth.
