Bayelsa guber election: I knew Sylva will lose – Says APC chieftain

By Brave Dickson

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Ajasin Vincent has said that he knew that the guber candidate of his party, Timipre Sylva will lose the just concluded November 11 election in Bayelsa State.

Sylva lost to incumbent Governor Douye Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party in a keenly contested election.

Speaking with our correspondent, Vincent said Sylva has a dented image in Bayelsa, which will never make him
win an election again in the state.

He said: “Bayelsa State is a boundary neighbor to Rivers State and as such, they share the same experiences. A typical Ijaw man will not want to be controlled by a few individuals.

“Bayelsa State is not owned by Timipre Sylva and the current Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Heineken Lokpobiri. Presently as I speak, the ministerial slot of the state has been rotating among Sylva and Lokpobiri.

“The first time that APC won guber election in Bayelsa State, it was through the candidacy of David Lyon who is a grassroots politician.

“We know the circumstances that led to the removal of Sylva as governor of Bayelsa State. Sylva had issues with the state upon which he was maligned. It would have been better if APC had presented a new candidate whose image had not been dented.

“In politics, it is not just about an individual, it is the people that determine who rules them. So, Sylva deserves election failure and until APC in Bayelsa State changes, the party will still suffer the same defeat in Bayelsa over and over again.

“Sylva was a former minister of state for petroleum resources and he promised Nigerians that by December 2022, the refineries will be up and running. That failed promise dented his image very well.

“Sylva and Lokpobiri were in the same cartel that fought former governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha of blessed memory. Lokpobiri was the speaker of the state House of Assembly when late Alamieyeseigha was impeached. That gang up against Alamieyeseigha will still continue to hunt Sylva and Lokpobiri.

“Bayelsa people will not forgive Sylva and Lokpobiri for destroying Alamieyeseigha’s political career. The manner at which they humiliated Alamieyeseigha that cumulated to his death will continue to hunt Sylva and Lokpobiri till the end of time.”
