2nd Term: Focus on youth development – MOSIEND tells Gov Diri

By Brave Dickson

The Movement for the Survival of the Izon Ethnic Nationality (MOSIEND) has urged Governor Douye Diri to focus his second tenure on youth and entrepreneurial development.

The National President of MOSIEND, Kennedy West who congratulated Diri on his second term election victory told our correspondent that Bayelsa State is the second poorest state in the country.

He said: “We congratulate Governor Douye Diri for his resounding victory at the election. We will advise that in his second tenure, he should concentrate on youth development and capacity building.

“He should concentrate on those indicators that have made Bayelsa State, the second poorest state in the country. Poverty has ravaged the length and breadth of Bayelsa.

“If the concentration is given to the youths, it will help to build more capacity that will in turn create more revenue.

“Once you train the youths, they will be able to look at the economic opportunities of their training. For now, the only LGA in Bayelsa that is economically viable is Yenagoa. The rest LGAs are not getting that effect.

“I believe that the governor should look at his budget for youth development, agriculture and he should also invest in the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.
.

“Yes, infrastructure is good but if you don’t train the youths, how would they appreciate the infrastructural development? So, side by side with infrastructural development should be human capital and entrepreneurial developments.”

Diri was declared the winner of the November 11 guber election by INEC after defeating the APC guber candidate, Timipre sylva and others in a keenly contested election.
