LP dissolves party’s executive council in Rivers

The national leadership of the Labour Party (LP) has denied forming an alliance with any political party ahead of the gubernatorial polls scheduled to hold on Saturday, March 11.

Its Chairman, Comrade Julius Abure, has also dissolved the Party’s Executive Council in Rivers State with immediate effect.

He said the decision came after the council headed by Dienye Pepple was found culpable for gross anti-party activities and corruption in the management of Labour Party funds.

Abure noted that it was in the interest of the Labour Party and the Obedient movement in Rivers State that those who were at the helm of affairs during the presidential election should step aside until a full investigation is completed.

The National Chairman said he has lost confidence in the ability of the State Executive Council led by Deinye Pepple to lead the campaign for Saturday’s gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections given that they have been compromised.

He urged all supporters of the party in Rivers State to disregard any decision taken by the dissolved state council while noting that Beatrice Itubo remains the sole governorship candidate of the Labour Party in the state.
