Mikel Stars As Tianjin Teda Win At Ighalo’s Changchun Yatai

Super Eagles skipper John Mikel Obi was in action for Tianjin Teda who pipped Changchun Yatai 1-0 away with Odion Ighalo on parade in the Chinese Super League (CSL) on Saturday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Both Mikel and Ighalo featured for 90 minutes for their respective clubs in the game.

Ghana’s Frank Acheampong was the hero for Tianjin Teda as his 81st minute strike secured the win for Tianjin Teda – their first back-to-back league win for his side this season.

Also, the win was Tianjin Teda’s first away from home in the league in the current campaign.

Going into the game, Ighalo had scored six goals in his last three league games (he now has seven goals in 10 league games this season).

The win took Tianjin Teda from ninth to seventh position on 15 points after 10 games, five points adrift leaders Shanghai SIPG, in the 16-team CSL table.

Changchun Yatai are now 13th on 11 points from the same number of games played.
