Man kills father over crop harvest in Delta

The Police in Delta State has arrested a suspect for allegedly killing his father in Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The suspect identified as Kido and in his late 20s identified simply as Kido , is said to have stabbed his father to death on their farmland in Issele-Uku area.

It was learnt that the victim had confronted the suspect for harvesting crops on the farm without permission.

According to a source, “Kido stabbed his father to death and the community vigilantes have arrested him and handed him over to the police.

“But in his confession, the suspect said he did not stab his father but only used firewood on him in self-defence while he (father) threatened him (son) with a cutlass,” the source said.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, said the suspect was in custody while investigation was ongoing.

He said, “The son was arrested immediately and he is in detention. They were quarrelling on the farm and unfortunately he killed his father.”
