WACT receives second largest container ship at Onne

The West Africa Containers Terminal, WACT has announced the arrival of MV Lady Jane, the second Largest Vessel to Berth at APM Terminals/WACT at any Eastern Nigerian port.

The vessel arrived on April 4. The huge ship has length overall of 295 meters, beam of 32.3metres and a capacity to carry about 5042 TEU (Twenty Equivalent Units) of containers.

According WACT, on ground to receive the vessel were, the MD, Naved Zafar, the Commercial Manager, Noah Sheriff, Head of Operations, Sulaiman Dalabieh and the GM, Government and Public Relations, Innocent Ogbuji, all of APM Terminals/WACT.

Also present to support the WACT team were the Onne Port Manager, Mr. Stanley Magaji Yitnoe and Customs Comptroller for Area 2 Command, Onne Port, Mohammed Auwal.

Naved acknowledged team collaboration in ensuring safe arrival of the vessel, while stating that APM Terminals’ one hundred and eleven million dollars investment in our terminal has remarkably transformed it with additional equipment, modern operating model, expanded yard and most importantly, a people undergoing intense training. These he described as the pillars of confidence and enablers for handling ships like Lady Jane.

The company said that Lady Jane which berthed at 1420hrs, is a significance of the unwavering trust of its customers in the company’s capabilities and a container traffic stimulator for its terminal and the larger Eastern Nigerian Ports.
