Nothing like police brutality in Nigeria -Okorocha

Imo West Senator, Rochas Okorocha, has said there is nothing like police brutality in Nigeria.

Okorocha said this on Monday while speaking at a world press conference where he declared his ambition to run for president in 2023.

The former Imo state governor explained that what is referred to as police brutality in the country is a situation of youths brutalising youths.

He noted that the policeman accused of brutality is also a young person, and his actions are borne out of frustration.

According to him, “Someone asked me, What will you do about #EndSARS, about policy brutality? I said to him, there is nothing like police brutality; what we have are youths brutalising youths out of frustration.

“The policeman that brutalised his brother on the street did so not because he’s a policeman; he did so because he’s a young man frustrated.”

He stated that if elected, the youths would be the bedrock of the country’s economy, as he would ensure that they were self-employed.

Recall that Nigerian youths in October 2020 staged a protest, where they called for an end to police brutality.

The protest tagged EndSARS shut down Nigeria for weeks as youths called for the reform of the Nigeria Police Force.
