UN appoints Tonye Jaja as legal draftsperson

United Nations (UN) Women Nigeria has approved the appointment of Dr. Tonye Jaja as a consultant and legal draftsperson.

He was appointed for the production of a final draft of the Gender and Equal Opportunities Bill (GEOB), sponsored by Senator ‘Biodun Olujimi at the National Assembly.

Jaja was selected based on his expertise as a legal/legislative draftsperson having been awarded a PhD in Legislative Drafting degree by the University of London.

He was recently appointed as the Ag. Head of Bills and Legislative Drafting Division at the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, Abuja.

Since January 2012, Jaja has served as the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Legislative Drafting and Law Reform published online by HEINONLINE, USA, and the Canadian Institute of Legal Information (CanLII).

He is the secretary of the Association of Legislative Drafters and Advocacy Practitioners (ALDRAP).
