On the 11th of May 2019, the video of a Nigerian lawmaker, senator Elisha Abbo assaulting a salesperson in an adult toy shop in Abuja went viral.
Although, the senator apologized to the victim through a press conference that some people called a haphazard apology.
Recall that a magistrate Court in Zuba, Abuja had earlier dismissed the assault case filed by the Nigerian Police against the Senator for lack of diligent prosecution by the police despite the viral video showing the Senator assaulting Osimibibra Warmate. Well, a Fundamental Right Enforcement suit was filed against him.
The court sitting today delivered its judgment in favour of the applicant, Osimibibra Warmate and awarded the sum of 50 million naira as damages against the Senator.
