COVID-19: Delta establishes food bank

To cushion the effects of the lockdown in the State, today, the Delta State Government announced that it has established a food bank for low-income families.

The Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu disclosed this while briefing newsmen after a meeting of the Central Committee on Managing and Containing the Coronavirus Pandemic In Delta, presided over by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, in Asaba.

The commissioner disclosed that all political appointees in the State have sacrificed their one month subvention as part of their contributions to ameliorating the effects of the virus.

“A food bank has been set up and committees will be set up at the local government, ward and unit levels to ensure that the food gets to the needy and people who cannot make a purchase during the lockdown,” the Commissioner said.
