The Amanyanabo of Okochiri Kingdom, King Michael Ateke-Tom has called on Rivers people to comply with the directives of the State and Federal governments on measures put up to curtail the spread of coronavirus.

The Traditional ruler during a coronavirus awareness campaign in Okochiri asked residents to support the effort of the governments in curbing the spread of the virus.

He said the sensitization will enable the residents of Okochiri to understand the real facts about COVID-19 and how to protect themselves from the virus.

The Amayanabo of Okochiri kingdom, while describing as unfortunate the dreaded disease that has almost destroyed the world economy, said everyone must rise up and unite to end the spread of the virus.

Ateke-Tom during the programme advised residents of Rivers State and Niger Delta communities to maintain good personal hygiene by washing their hands regularly and maintaining social distance.

ATEKE-TOM also ordered the closure of market, drinking joints and beer parlours, inline with the directives of the State Government.

He warned that anybody that disobeys the directive will face the full wrath of the law.

He noted that measures have been put in place to restrict movement in Okochiri kingdom.

Our correspondent reports that King Michael Ateke-Tom also distributed hand sanitizers during the coronavirus awareness campaign.
