Just In: Gunmen attack Jonathan’s residence, kill one

Gunmen on Tuesday morning invaded the Otuoke home of former President Goodluck Jonathan, killing at least one person and injuring many more.

Locals say the attackers invaded the ex-president’s house around 3: 30 am, shooting sporadically in the air.

A soldier guarding the residence was reportedly gunned down during an exchange of gunfire with the hoodlums.

Another community source said the hoodlums did not attack Jonathan’s residence but were passing through a river behind the ex-president’s house when they sighted a gunboat stationed at a closeby checkpoint and opened fire on the soldiers.

Locals told theportcitynews that all the roads leading to Otuoke/Otuaba have been cordoned off by the military.

The state police command is yet to give clarifications on the motive for the attack.
