Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mustapha Dandaura says several months after, families of victims of Port Harcourt serial killing have failed to come forward to identify and claim their bodies for burial.

The CP stated this on Wednesday when he received an award of excellence by Port Harcourt Significant Girls Initiative, PHSGI, in his office at the Force Headquarters, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt.

PHSGI said the award is for the proactive response of the force in arresting, Gracious David West, the prime suspect in the killing of nine women in hotels in the state.

West who was arrested on September 22 on his way to Uyo had since pleaded guilty to nine out of the ten-count charge levelled against him by the state.

Dandaura advised young ladies in the state who lead unimpressive lifestyles to turn a new leaf.

He said that only those who engage in commercial sexual activities would decide to follow a man they have never met before to lodge in a hotel.

According to him, the failure of family members or relatives of some of the victim to claim their corpses several months after they were killed clearly confirmed that they were not proud of the kind of lifestyle they led.

The CP did not, however, provide an exact number of corpses yet to be claimed by their families.

He commended the group for appreciating the efforts of the police in fighting crime in the state and charged them to always be security conscious in their environments at all times, as well as properly profile anyone they are meeting for the first time or in an already existing relationship.
