Concerned girls protest killing of women in Port Harcourt

Concerned girls in Rivers State on Friday organized a peaceful protest to the office of the Commissioner for Police in Rivers State over the constant brutal killing of women by serial killers in Port Harcourt.

The group called on the police to put in more efforts in nabbing the ritual serial killer in Port-Harcourt.

Kirikenu Toku, a member of the group said they would also start sensitizing women in Port Harcourt on how to avoid being victims to serial killers, calling the trend despicable.

The protest comes in the wake of killing and mutilation of women’s body parts in Rivers State by suspected ritualists with the latest victim being a 27-year-old lady, identified as Blessing who was killed in an undisclosed hotel in Rumuomasi Port Harcourt.

Her mutilated body was discovered in the hotel room on Wednesday, it was gathered.

The deceased who hails from Akwa Ibom state was a former waitress at an eatery who resigned her job a month before her death, her friends say.

They said her killing was for ritual purposes as her body parts were harvested.

Her killing is the 7th mysterious deaths of young ladies in Port Harcourt in a space of three months.

Police said on Friday that they have made arrests in connection to killings since the trend began.
