Channels TV Reporter injured during Shia protest dies.

A Channels TV Reporter, Precious Owolabi shot during a clash between followers of Ibraheem El-Zakzaky and the police on Monday has died.

Owolabi, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member serving with Channels TV was struck by a stray bullet while covering the protest.

The sad news of his death was made public Monday night by the television station.

Also, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Umar, Usman who was in charge of Operations at the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, was also killed during the confrontation between the Shiites, who have been protesting the continued detention of their spiritual leader, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, by the Federal Government.

Umar was said to have been shot as he tried to pacify the rampaging Shiite members who disrupted commercial activities and vehicular movement during their protest at the Federal Secretariat, Abuja, Monday.

He was immediately taken to an undisclosed hospital where he passed on.
