Abbo Pleads Not Guilty To Assault Charges

The Senator Elisha Abbo, the senator representing Adamawa North senatorial district in National Assembly, has pleaded not guilty to physical assault charges.

The lawmaker was arraigned on Monday before a magistrate court in Zuba Abuja on one count of assault.

The senator gained notoriety after a video clip of him assaulting a lady in a sex toy shop in Abuja sparked protests.

He later apologised but the police, however, arraigned him in court on Monday.

He was granted bail in the sum of N5million and two sureties in like sum.

The Presiding Magistrate, Senior Magistrate Abdullahi Ilellah said the sureties must have verifiable addresses within the FCT.

Ilellah adjourned the case to July 22nd for hearing.
