Police mar Rivers APC anti-collation protest

A protest allegedly planned by a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Port Harcourt has been marred by the police who maintained a heavy presence within Port Harcourt metropolis.

The foiled protest said to be organised by Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe, a chieftain of the APC against the resumption of collation of the suspended Rivers elections results was met with strong worded denouncing from the Rivers State government which had earlier banned protests in Port Harcourt.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is set to resume collation of results for the suspended elections today according to its timetable for the completion of the process.

However, the APC and its ally, the AAC have all accused the commission of working to reinstall governor Nyesom Wike into power.

The Tuesday protest was to stall the process, prompting police intervention.
